1977 (Senior)
Monte was a four-year letterman and was in the Nebraska backfield since his freshman year. He played I-Back his first three years then switched to full back as a senior. Anthony would have had a better senior season if not for his wrist and shoulder which slowed him in his junior and senior seasons. He rushed for 212 yards as a senior, on 51 attempts. 

Monte was awarded the Tom Novak Award which is given annually to the senior football player who best shows courage and determination despite all odds. Monte's success on the field earned him a spot in the 1978 NFL Draft (8th Round NFL Draft Pick of the Baltimore Colts, 218th Overall) He helped the Huskers finish with a 9-3 record and a Liberty Bowl win against North Carolina, 21-17.

1976 (Junior)
Monte was Nebrska’s No. 1 I-Back for most of as a junior. He gained 594 yards, second best on the team, on 148 carries and scored five touchdowns. He also caught 14 passes for 84 yards. Monte’s best day came against Miami when he rushed for 109 yards in the Huskers 17-9 win. 

1975 (Sophomore)
Monte's best year was in 1975, when he gained 817 yards on 183 carries and scored nine times. As a sophomore, Anthony helped the Huskers finish the season with a 10-2 record and a Fiesta Bowl appearance against Arizona State.

1974 (Freshman)
For Monte’s efforts as a Husker varsity performer as a freshman in 1974, he was named the Big Eight Freshman-of-the-Year. He finished with 124 rushing attempts for 651 yards (most on the team) and seven touchdowns. Nebraska finished with a 9-3 record and a 13-10 Sugar Bowl win over Florida.
