1975 (Senior)

Three-year letterman for Nebraska. Coyle was the starting kick specialist for the Huskers. Coyle was a sharpshooter for the Huskers, knocking down 40 extra points out of 42 attempts. Mike also knocked down 10 field goals out of 17 attempts. Mike would knock down 36-straight extra points, setting a Husker record at the time. Mike would also earn second team All-Big Eight honors during his senior season.

1974 (Junior)

Hero of Nebraska’s 13-10 win over Florida in the 1974 Sugar Bowl, kicking the 39-yard winning field goal with 1:46 left in the game. In that game, Mike kicked one extra point and two field goals. Had a great year kicking 41 of 45 PATs and 7 of 13 field goals. Mike would also handle the kickoff duties during this season after Al Everland was injured. 

1973 (Sophomore)

Coyle would back up Rich Sanger for the entire season. Coyle would be called to kick one extra point during his sophomore season. Coyle knocked down the attempt going one for one on the season. 

1972 (Freshman)

Coyle played on the Frosh team during his freshman season at NU. 

Personal

Son of Richard and Bettye Coyle, Mike Coyle was born on Dec. 24, 1953, in Omaha, Neb. Coyle enrolled at NU as a civil engineering major.
