Before Nebraska (Omaha Westside HS)
A second generation Cornhusker, Maurice Purify II joined Nebraska after a productive career as a wide receiver at Omaha Westside High School. A talented athlete, Purify was also a prep star in track and field.
As a senior, Purify had 41 catches for 589 yards and 10 touchdowns for Westside while adding 242 kickoff return yards. He was an honorable-mention all-state selection as a senior. In his junior year, Purify caught 22 passes for 298 yards and two touchdowns.
In track and field, Purify finished second in the Class A long jump as a junior while qualifying for the state meet in the 100 and 200 meters and as part of the 4x100 meter relay.
Purify was a consensus three-star recruit and was ranked among the nation’s top 200 receivers by Rivals, 247Sports and ESPN.
Personal
Maurice is a sports media and communication major.
His father, Maurice Purify, spent two seasons at Nebraska in 2006 and 2007, earning second-team All-Big 12 accolades in 2006 and honorable-mention all-conference recognition in 2007. The elder Purify finished his career with 91 catches for 1,444 yards and 16 touchdowns.
