Matt Brandl Season 1981

1981 (Senior)
Matt earned his second varsity letter as a senior. He was a backup to All-American starter Randy Schleusener during his career at Nebraska. He played an important role in the Huskers offense which finished second in the nation in rushing at 330.5 yards per game and sixth in total offense at 437.5 yards per game. The Huskers finished the season with a 9-3 record and an appearance in the National-Championship Orange Bowl against Miami. 

1980 (Junior)
In 1980 Matt earned his first varsity letter and played 70 minutes as a reserve junior guard. Nebraska finished the season with a Sun Bowl win against Mississippi State (31-17). 

1979 (Sophomore)
Matt was a reserve left guard for the 10-2 Nebraska team. 

1978 (Redshirt)
Brandl redshirted his second season as a Husker.

1977 (Freshman)
Matt was a freshman walkon and played for the 1977 freshman team. 

Humphrey High School
Matt was an all-state full back for Coach Leroy Ditter at Humphrey High School in Nebraska. Matt also lettered in basketball and track. He is the son of John Brandl and was majoring in Industrial Arts in Teachers College.
