  • 1976 Honorable-Mention All-Big Eight (Omaha World-Herald)

1977 (Senior)
Larry was the Huskers starting safety for two years. He recorded 51 tackles (21 unassisted) and intercepted two passes. The Huskers finished with a 9-3 record and a Liberty Bowl win against North Carolina, 21-17.

1976 (Junior)
Valasek earned Honorable-Mention ALl-Big Eight as a junior when recorded 50 tackles, 29 unassisted, two interceptions  for 91 yards and 2 fumble recoveries along with a blocked punt. The blocked punt came against Missouri which Kent Smith recovered in the end zone for a score. Larry helped Nebraska finish the season with a 9-3-1 record and an Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl win over Texas Tech, 27-24.

1975 (Sophomore)
As a sophomore, Larry backed up Jimmy Burrow at safety and started the LSU game, which the Huskers won 10-7. He finished the season with eight tackles, six of them unassisted. Valasek helped the Huskers finish the season with a 10-2 record and a Fiesta Bowl appearance against Arizona State.

1974 (Redshirt)
Larry redshirted his second season as a Husker. 

1973 (Freshman)
Larry performed with the 1973 Husker freshman team. 

Silver Creek High School (Silver Creek, Nebraska)
Valasek earned All-State football and basketball honors under Coach Larry Rhoten. Larry was also a fine trackster as he won the 1973 Class D 220 and 440-yard dash Championships. Larry was majoring in physical education and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albin Valasek.
