Fifth-year senior Kyle Ringenberg was one of four tight ends to see extensive action this season. With fellow senior Jon Bowling sidelined for the bowl game, Ringenberg will share tight end duties with senior Aaron Golliday and true freshman Matt Herian. Ringenberg earned first-team Academic All-District VII honors and was a first-team academic all-conference pick for the second straight year with a 3.778 grade-point average in exercise science.

2002: Ringenberg played in all 13 games and caught two passes for 40 yards, a 25-yarder against McNeese State and a 15-yard catch in the regular-season finale against Colorado. Ringenberg was also on NU's kickoff return team and had one return for six yards against Texas.

2001: Ringenberg moved to tight end at the start of spring camp. He sat out the first four games with a shoulder injury, then returned to action at Missouri and played in each of the last eight games. The junior made three receptions for 49 yards (16.3 yards per catch) with a long of 20 at Kansas, when he had two catches for a career-best 30 yards. He also made a 19-yard grab against Oklahoma. Ringenberg had three tackles on the season playing on Nebraska's kickoff coverage and kickoff return teams. He saw action in the 2002 Rose Bowl, but did not have a reception.

2000: As a reserve rush end, Ringenberg played in four games. He had two assisted tackles on the season, one vs. San Jose State and one vs. Baylor. He also played against Iowa and Kansas and Northwestern in the Alamo Bowl, but did not have any tackles.

1999: Ringenberg saw action in two games, but did not have any tackles.

1998: A former walk-on athlete, Ringenberg redshirted his first year.

At Elkhorn HS: Ringenberg played tight end and defensive end, earning all-state honors on defense in 1997.

Personal: The son of Tod and Lorraine Ringenberg, Kyle was born on Oct. 17, 1979. He was named to the 2002 Brook Berringer Citizenship Team and has been a regular volunteer in the community. He is also a member of the 2002 Nebraska Football Unity Council.
