• All-Big Eight First Team (1966)

1966 (Senior)

Won All Big Eight honors in his second year starting at cornerback for the Huskers. Carstens intercepted two passes and broke up four additional passes, in addition to taking part in 35 tackles.Nebraska added another Big Eight crown in 1966, finishing with a 9-2 mark after falling to Alabama in the 1967 Sugar Bowl. The Huskers finished with a final No. 6 national ranking. 

1965 (Junior)

Carstens became a defensive standout as a junior. Carstens would take over the right corner job when Bill Johnson moved to the left corner position. Kaye would have 30 tackles with 20 of them being unassisted, one interception, four pass break ups during his junior year. Carstens helped the Huskers to a 10-1 overall record, a Big Eight title and a trip to the 1966 Orange Bowl against Bear Bryant's Alabama squad. NU fell 39-28 to the Crimson Tide, but finished the season ranked No. 3 in the final national polls. 

1964 (Sophomore)

Carstens was buried in the depth chart at left halfback during his sophomore year. With his limited time at halfback Kaye was able to get six carries for 22 yards.

1963 (Freshman)

Kaye was a standout on the frosh team for the Huskers. Led the 1963 freshman team with 29.1 rushing averages on 10 carries, scoring touchdown runs of 78, 80, and 52 yards.
