John Sherlock Season 1983

1983 (Senior)
Sherlock got his chance to start after waiting for three years as a reserve only to suffer a knee injury in the Huskers’ fifth game. He underwent arthroscopic surgery and missed the next four games before returning to finish out the season as an alternate behind Mark Behning. 

1982 (Junior)
During 1982 John lettered while serving as a back-up. Sherlock helped the 1982 Huskers to lead the nation in rushing, total offense and scoring. 

1981 (Sophomore)
John was a non-lettered reserve during his sophomore season. 

1980 (Redshirt)
John redshirted his second season as a Husker. The Huskers finished the 1980 season with a 10-2 record and a 31-17 Sun Bowl win against Mississippi State.

1979 (Freshman)
John was the starting left tackle for the Husker freshman team. 

Omaha South High School
John was the prep athlete-of-the-year award winner. As a senior at Omaha South, Sherlock was all-state in football for Coach Jack Oholendt, he won state titles as a heavyweight wrestler and shot putter. He was also the 1978 National Sport Festival freestyle wrestling champion. He is the son of Marlene Sherlock.
