1980 (Senior)
John was Nebraska’s No. 2 split end his senior year. He finished the season with 10 receptions for 187 yards and three touchdowns. John's play on the field got him drafted in the ninth round by the Miami Dolphins. Nebraska finished the season with a Sun Bowl win against Mississippi State (31-17).
1979 (Junior)
John was a reserve split end for the Huskers. Nebraska finished the season with a 10-2 record and an appearance in the Cotton Bowl against Houston.
1978 (Sophomore)
Noonan was a non-lettered reserve his sophomore year. Nebraska finished the season with a 9-3 record and an appearance in the Orange Bowl against Oklahoma.
1977 (Redshirt Transfer)
John transferred to Nebraska in August of 1977 after attending Nebraska-Omaha in 1976. He sat out this season to gain eligibility.
1976 (Freshman)
Noonan played his freshman year at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

John was a standout football player under Coach Tim McGuire, a former Husker player. John was majoring in criminal justice and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E.S. Noonan.
