1987 (Senior)
Nichols was a starter during the 1987 season. He helped the Big Red to a 10-2 overall record and a trip to the 1988 Fiesta Bowl against Florida State. Nebraska ranked second nationally in total offense (489.0 ypg), while ranking third in the NCAA in rushing (373.5 ypg) and scoring (38.5 ppg).
1986 (Junior)
Nichols was a letterwinner during the 1986 season. Green helped the Huskers to an appearance in the 1987 USF&G Sugar Bowl, where they defeated LSU 30-15. Nebraska finished second nationally in rushing offense (305.5 ypg) and third in scoring (37.8 ppg).
1985 (Sophomore)
Nichols was a non-letterwinner in his sophomore season. Nebraska earned its fourth NCAA rushing title in a span of six seasons in 1985. Nichols helped the Big Red to a nation-leading 374.3 rushing yards per game.
1984 (Redshirt)
Nichols Redshirted his second season at Nebraska.
1983 (Freshman)
Nichols started at center for the 5-0 freshman team.
Columbine High School
Nichols was an All-Metro Denver and All-State selection at both center and tackle for Coach Sherm Pruitt at Columbine High School. In addition to football, he was a three-time letterwinner in both track and wrestling.

Nichols is a Criminal Justice major born in Chicago. He is the son of John and Carol Nichols and has two sisters.
