1984 (Senior)

Thompson was a three-year lettered reserve who was the back-up to Irving Fryar and Shane Swanson. Thompson would appear in the Minnesota game his senior year. He would catch a pair of passes and score a 7-yard touchdown in that game. 

1983 (Junior)

Thompson would be a reserved player during his junior year. Thompson would have two rushes for negative four yards. Thompson also had one catch for four yards.

1982 (Sophomore)

Jim was a reserve player during his sophomore year. He would only record one catch for nine yards and one touchdown. 

1981 (Redshirt)

Jim Thompson would redshirt in his second season with the Huskers in 1981.

1980 (Freshman)

Thompson would walk-on the Husker freshman team. Thompson was the alternate wingback behind Irving Fryar. Jim caught 12 passes for 188 yards, two touchdowns; also rushed seven times for 30 yards.

Jim Thompson born on Aug. 7, 1962, in Blair, Neb. Thompson enrolled at Nebraska as an engineering major.
