Career

After Jim graduated Nebraska he would bounce around the CFL. After his last season in 1981, Jim turned his sights to being a college coach. He would start at Washington State in 1981 as the tight ends coach. After coaching at Washington State for some time he would then move on to Iowa State for seven years. Burrow would then take a job at Ames Highschool in Iowa, becoming an assistant coach then Head coach for one season. Before making the comeback to NU as a graduate assistant. He would become the defensive coordinator for the Ohio university and even 2009 MAC Defensive coordinator of the year. Jim would retire from coaching in 2018. Jim would have three boys Joe, Dan, Jamie. Dan and Jamie both attended and played for the Husker's football team. Joe Burrow would attened Ohio State university then transferring to LSU. Joe is now the quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals. 

1975 (Senior)

Two-year starter and letterman for the Huskers at safety and cornerback. Burrow was the punt returner for the Huskers. As a Senior, Burrow earned second team All Big Eight honors and Academic conference laurels. Burrow had 15 returns for a total of 128 yards and an average of 8.5 (ypa). Burrow had 44 tackles on the season with 21 of them being unassisted. Jimmy was a defensive playmaker, a tackle for loss recover a fumble, had two pass breakups, finishing it up with two pass intercepted.

1974 (Junior)

Took over the top cornerback spot due to an injury that happened to Dave Butterfield. Jim led the Huskers with four passes intercepted. Also led the Huskers in punt returns with 28 grabs and had a 9.7 average. Burrow also returned a 67-yard punt return touchdown against Minnesota. The 5-11 170-pound safety would also have 30 tackles with 18 of them being unassisted and four pass breakups.

1973 (Sophomore)

Burrow served as a reserve player receiving very minimal game time during the 1973 season.

1972 (Redshirt)

Burrow served as a primary scout player helping with the team. He would also use his redshirt during the 1972 

1971 (Freshman at University of Mississippi)

Played frosh ball at the University of Mississippi before transferring to NU.

Personal 

Son of James A.Burrow, Jim Burrow was born on Nov. 23, 1953, in Armory Miss. Jim attended NU as an physical therapy major.
