1978 (Senior)
Jeff was a four year letterman and started for Nebraska at safety during the latter part of his senior season. It was Hansen’s hit on Oklahoma’s Billy Sims late in the game that caused Sims' fumble, which was recovered by Jim Pillen and protected Nebraska’s 17-14 lead. He overcame knee surgery in the summer of 1978 and had a good senior season. Nebraska finished the season with a 9-3 record and an appearance in the Orange Bowl against Oklahoma.

1977 (Junior)
Jeff played the season as an alternate safety and monster, he had 20 tackles, nine unassisted and played 154 minutes. He helped the Huskers finish with a 9-3 record and a Liberty Bowl win against North Carolina, 21-17.

1976 (Sophomore)
Jeff played safety as a junior and finished with 12 tackles, nine of which were unassisted. Hansen helped Nebraska finish the season with a 9-3-1 record and an Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl win over Texas Tech, 27-24.

1975 (Freshman)
Hansen played with freshman eligibility after gaining a hardship case during his original freshman year in 1974, for a broken wrist. Jeff finished his freshman season with 11 tackles, seven which were unassisted and two pass break ups. 

1974 (Hardship Year)
Jeff earned a hardship year after breaking his wrist. 

El Camino High School (Sacramento, Calif.)
Jeff garnered All-American prep honors as a flanker and cornerback at El Camino High School. Under Coach Jim Dimino. He was also a solid high school baseball player. Jeff was majoring in natural resources and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted C. Hansen.
