Jeff Carpenter Season 1977

1977 (Senior)
Jeff shared co-captain duties with Greg Jorgensen, Carpenter was the No. 1 weakside linebacker for most of ‘77. He finished the season with 70 tackles, 19 of which were unassisted. The Huskers finished with a 9-3 record and a Liberty Bowl win against North Carolina, 21-17.

1976 (Junior)
Jeff backed up starter James Wightman at weakside linebacker. He finished with 25 tackles, including 14 unassisted, and one tackle for a loss of two yards. Jeff played for the injured Clete Pillen in the Huskers victory over Texas Tech in the Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl (27-24). Jeff helped Nebraska finish the season with a 9-3-1 record.

1975 (Sophomore)
Carpenter earned his first varsity letter as a sophomore. He finished the season with six tackles including two unassisted. The Huskers finished the season with a 10-2 record and a Fiesta Bowl appearance against Arizona State.

1974 (Redshirt)
Jeff Redshirted his second season at Nebraska. 

1973 (Freshman)
Carpenter was a starter with the 1973 freshman team. 

Abraham Lincoln High School (Council Bluffs, Iowa)
Jeff was All-Conference and All-City linebacker under Coach Don Hinkel. He was also a solid basketball and track performer. He was majoring in business and is the son of Leona Carpenter.
