1976 (Senior)
Jake backed up All-American Dave Butterfield at left corner. He brought good size and speed to the defensive secondary and finished the season with one unassisted tackle. Jake helped Nebraska finish the season with a 9-3-1 record and an Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl win over Texas Tech, 27-24.
1975 (Junior)
Cabell was a squadman. The Huskers finished the season with a 10-2 record and a Fiesta Bowl appearance against Arizona State.
1974 (Transfer Redshirt)
Jake redshirted during the 1974 season. Nebraska finished the season with a 9-3 record and a Sugar Bowl win against Florida (13-10).
1973 (Ferrum Junior College)
Cabell was a transfer from Ferrum Junior College in Virginia, where he played under Coach Hank Norton.
George Washington High School (Danville, Va.)
As a prepster, Cabell was captain of the football and basketball teams. He played under Coach Alger Pugh. Jake was majoring in Physical Education in Teachers College. He is the son of Rev. James Cabell, Jr.
