Gary Dixon

1972 (Senior)
Dixon led the 1972 Huskers with 575 rushing yards and scored nine touchdowns. He was the Huskers’ No. 3 scorer with 54 points. Nebraska finished second in total offense at 440.3 yards per game. Gary helped the Husker offense to led the Big Eight in scoring, averaging 41.9 points per game.

1971 (Junior)
Gary was a star back-up for Jeff Kinney. He saw heavy duty and scored three touchdowns in the season opener against Oregon and chipped in half as many yards as Kinney. He finished the season with 148 rushing attempts for 515 yards and seven rushing touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 25 yards. 

The Huskers ground game produced 3,100 yards, good for third in the conference at 258.3 yards per game. Overall, the Husker offense averaged 437.7 yards and 39.1 points per game, ranking second in the Big Eight in both categories behind only Oklahoma. Nebraska finished with an undefeated record (13-0) and beat Alabama 38-6, in the National Championship game.

Ventura Junior College (Ventura, California)
Dixon was an All-Western Conference, Most Valuable Player and conference scoring champion at Ventura. 

Rio Mesa High School (El Rio, California)
Gary played high school ball under Coach John Reardon at Rio Mesa High School and was the president of the senior class. Gary was a sociology major in Teachers College and is the son of Mrs. Peggy Dixon. Gary signed to play pro football in Canada.
