1989 (Junior)
Kiehn was Nebraska's No. 3 offensive left guard, behind Jim Wanek and Chris O'Gara. He appeared in three games as a senior and earned his first varsity letter. He helped the Cornhuskers to a 10–2 record and earn a berth in the Fiesta Bowl against Florida State. As a member of Nebraska’s offensive line, he contributed to an offense that led the Big Eight in rushing offense (375.3 ypg), scoring offense (44.7 ppg), and total offense (513.3 ypg).

1988 (Sophomore)
Kiehn did not letter during the 1988 season despite seeing action against UNLV. The Cornhuskers posted an 11–2 record and earned a berth in the Orange Bowl against Miami.

1987 (Redshirt)
Kiehn redshirted his second season as a Husker.

1986 (Freshman)
A walk-on, he started at offensive right guard for the 4-1 Husker freshman team, helping the team to average 372 total-offensive yards per game including 256 yards on the ground. 

Omaha Gross High School
A senior standout for Coach Dan Macaitis in 1985, he earned all-conference honors and was selected to play in the 1986 Nebraska Shrine Bowl. A three-year letterwinner in both football and baseball, he also served as a member of the National Honor Society and was a Student Council representative. 

Personal
Erik was a criminal justice major. He is the son of James and Caroline Kiehn. He was born in Hastings, Minn.
