Dean Gissler

1975 (Senior)

Gissler was a back-up defensive tackle for the Huskers during his senior season. Saw plenty of action during the season. Gissler recorded four tackles with one of them being unassisted. Dean would also record two sacks for a loss of 11 yards. Dean would play some decent amount of time during the loss in the Fiesta Bowl against Arizona State 14-17.

1974 (Junior)

Dean was named the No. 2 defensive tackle for NU during his junior season. During Gissler being a back-up for most of the season still saw a decent amount of game time. The 6-8 257-pound defensive tackle recorded five tackles with four of those being unassisted. Dean would also record one sack for a loss of eight yards and a pass break up.

1973 (Sophomore)

Dean was labeled as a reserve player during his sophomore season. After transferring from the Air Force Academy, dean would see little playing time. Gissler secured seven tackles with four of them being unassisted. Gissler also recorded one fumble recovery. 

1972 (Freshman at Air Force Academy)

Gissler spent his freshman season at the Air Force Academy.

Personal

Son of Rolland and Sarah Gissler, Dean Gissler was born on Nov. 11 1952, in Cheyenne, Wyo. Dean’s uncle Bert Gissler played for the Huskers in 1943-44. Dean enrolled at NU as a zoology major.
