1976 (Senior)
Shamblin started at wingback for the Huskers. Dave had his best year as a senior, catching 32 passes for 513 yards and three touchdowns. He received All-Big Eight Academic honors as a senior. Dave helped Nebraska finish the season with a 9-3-1 record and an Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl win over Texas Tech, 27-24.
Dave also hurtled for the Huskers during the indoor track season.
1975 (Junior)
Dave came back from his knee injury and caught seven passes for 78 yards. The Huskers finished the season with a 10-2 record and a Fiesta Bowl appearance against Arizona State.
1974 (Injury Redshirt)
Dave missed the entire 1974 season because of a knee injury.
1973 (Sophomore)
Dave performed well as a sophomore, catching 15 passes for 338 yards and a touchdown while subbing for injured starter Frosty Anderson. The Huskers finished with a 9-2-1 record and a Cotton Bowl win over Texas (19-3).
1972 (Freshman)
Dave played split end for the undefeated freshman team.
Bonita High (LaVerne, California)
As a high schooler, Shamblin earned All-League, All-Pomona Valley and All-CIF at Bonita High, under Coach Larry Zeno. He also earned three letters in football and four in track at Bonita. Dave was majoring in physical education and is the son of Paul and Melva Shamblin.
