1979 (Senior)
Dan was the Huskers No. 1 right tackle in 1979. He earned Honorable Mention All-Big Eight honors and first team Academic All-Big Eight. Steiner was a key factor to the Huskers rushing attack, helping them to 327.3 yards per game. Dan helped Nebraska to a 10-2 finish and a Cotton Bowl appearance against Houston in 1979.
1978 (Junior)
Dan lettered as a junior reserve left tackle. He earned his first varsity letter during the 1978 season. Nebraska finished the season with a 9-3 record and an appearance in the Orange Bowl against Oklahoma.
1977 (Sophomore)
Dan was a reserve lineman for the Huskers, helping them finish with a 9-3 record and an Liberty Bowl win against North Carolina, 21-17.
1976 (Redshirt)
Steiner redshirted his second season as a Husker.
1975 (Freshman)
Dan played for the 1975 Nebraska football team.
Columbus Scotus Catholic
Dan had an outstanding high school career at Columbus Scotus under Coach Jim Puetz. He earned All-State honors and was an All Catholic All-American. Dan went on to be a high school football coach at David City in the fall of 1980.
