1979 (Senior)
In 1979, Pensick competed with Bill Barnett for the top right tackle spot. He finished the season with 24 stops, including 16 unassisted and five sacks for a loss of 38 yards. He helped Nebraska to a 10-2 finish and a Cotton Bowl appearance against Houston in 1979.

Dan also competed in the shot put for the Nebraska Indoor Track and Field team. 

1978 (Junior)
Dan started the latter half of the 1978 season at right tackle. He finished with 39 stops, with 29 unassisted. He also had three tackles behind the line for a loss of 13 yards and recovered two fumbles. He was named Nebraska Defensive Player-of-the-Week against Kansas, in the game he had eight tackles, six solo and dropped the Jayhawks behind the line twice for a loss of 11 yards. Nebraska finished the season with a 9-3 record and an appearance in the Orange Bowl against Oklahoma.

1977 (Sophomore)
Pensick was a part-time starter and letterman. During that year, he recovered a fumble in the Liberty Bowl. Dan finished the season with 15 tackles, 6 unassisted and one tackle for a loss of four yards. He helped the Huskers finish with a 9-3 record and a Liberty Bowl win against North Carolina, 21-17.

1976 (Freshman)
Dan performed with the 1976 freshman team as an outstanding lineman. 

Columbus High School
Dan was an All-State football player under Coach Jed Rood at Columbus High  School. He earned honors as a tackle, guard, middle guard and fullback. Dan was majoring in Animal Science and is the son of LaVern and Barbara Pensick.
