- 1973 Academic All-Big Eight
1973 (Senior)
Dan was a starter on the 1973 squad. He teamed with junior Tom Alward to form one of the finest guard tandems in the nation. Anderson was selected for the 1973 Big Eight Academic All-Conference team.
Dan was a key contributor to why the Huskers had the fourth best rushing attack (225.4 ypg) and the second best passing offense (170.6 ypg) in the Big Eight during the ‘73 season. Wolfe helped the Huskers to a 9-2-1 record and a 19-3 Cotton Bowl win over Texas.
1972 (Junior)
Dan took over the No. 1 spot at left guard when regular starter Bob Wolfe injured his knee at Colorado, Dan played outstanding football in the Huskers’ left four games, including the 40-6 romp past Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl (40-6).
Anderson helped lead the Huskers to the Big Eight’s top passing attack for the second consecutive season. Nebraska also ranked fourth in the conference in rushing offense, averaging 219.3 yards per game, and finished second in total offense at 440.3 yards per game. The Husker offensive line helped power an offense that led the Big Eight in scoring, averaging 41.9 points per game.
1971 (Sophomore)
Dan lettered as a reserve on the undefeated national championship squad.
The Huskers boasted the Big Eight’s top passing attack, averaging 179.3 yards per game, while their ground game produced 3,100 yards, good for third in the conference at 258.3 yards per game. Overall, the Husker offense averaged 437.7 yards and 39.1 points per game, ranking second in the Big Eight in both categories behind only Oklahoma.
1970 (Redshirt)
Anderson redshirted the second season as a Cornhusker.
Fremont High School (Fremont, Nebraska)
Anderson was an All-State prep player under Coach Jack Bryant. He also lettered in basketball and track. Dan was majoring in business administration and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis L. Anderson.
