Chad Daffer Season 1985

1985 (Senior)
Daffer played a key role in the Huskers' success during the 1985 season, appearing in every game and recording 34 total tackles, including 23 solo stops. He added two sacks for 10 yards in losses and finished with five tackles for loss totaling 17 yards. Daffer also contributed in pass coverage with one interception and four pass breakups, while recovering two fumbles to help Nebraska's defense throughout the season. 

1984 (Junior)
Daffer had a fine season with 29 total tackles and three pass break-ups in his reserve role, then had an outstanding game against LSU in the Sugar Bowl, He was credited with two tackles and made two key interceptions off Tiger quarterback Jeff Wickersham on LSU’s first two possessions of the second half, the first to set up Nebraska’s go-ahead touchdown in a come from behind 28-10 win. Prior to that his biggest games came against UCLA when he had nine tackles and Kansas when he had seven tackles. Nebraska finished the season with a 10-2 record. 

1983 (Sophomore)
Daffer recovered 24 tackles (13 unassisted), broke up two passes and had a top tackle game of seven (two unassisted) against Kansas. 

1982 (Freshman)
Daffer started at weak-side linebacker for the Huskers 5-0 freshman team, then moved directly to the varsity as a true sophomore in 1983. 

Nebraska City High School
Daffer was the Class B defensive player-of-the-year in 1981, he was a consensus all-class, all-state line backer and team MVP for Coach Loyd Maskell. In 1984, he was one of four former Pioneers who played key roles in Nebraska’s 10-2 season, including All-American safety Bret Clark, starting offensive guard Greg Orton and part-time starting fullback Scott Porter.

Daffer was majoring in accounting and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Daffer.
