2006 Outlook

Bryan Benzel is in his second season as a member of the Nebraska program, and hopes to contribute the Huskers’ special teams success this fall. Benzel is listed as a backup long snapper behind senior Lane Kelly, who is in his fourth season as a starter. Benzel is also a standout in the classroom, boasting a 3.814 grade-point average after two semesters. He has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll each of his first two semesters.

A walk-on athlete, Benzel redshirted in his first season at Nebraska.

Before Nebraska (Alliance HS)

Benzel earned three letters in football and also showed his talent in track and field, as he qualified for the state meet in the shot put as a junior. On the football field, Benzel was Alliance’s starting long snapper. Benzel was a standout in the classroom. He was valedictorian of his senior class, and was also a member of the Honor Roll and National Honor Society.

Personal

Benzel is the son of Trent and Sue Benzel, and was born on April 11, 1987. Benzel is majoring in engineering and owns a 3.814 cumulative grade-point average.
