1993 (Senior)
A three-year letterman for the Big Red, Bruce Moore helped the Huskers to the 1993 Big Eight title and an appearance in the 1994 Federal Express Orange Bowl national championship game against Florida State. The 6-6, 245-pounder from York, Neb., started three games (Texas Tech, UCLA, Iowa State) at left outside linebacker as a senior, primarily splitting time with Donta Jones opposite of All-America Trev Alberts. Moore totaled 29 tackles, including nine solos. He registered 4.5 tackles for 15 yards lost, including 2.5 sacks for 12 yards. He also notched six quarterback hurries. In the Orange Bowl loss to Florida State, Moore recorded a pass breakup but did not have a tackle.
In his Husker career, Moore played in 32 regular-season games (11 starts) and the 1992, 1993 and 1994 Orange Bowl games. He finished with 68 regular-season tackles, including 22 solos. He posted 10 TFLs for 31 yards, including four sacks for 21 yards lost. He hauled in one interception that included a 54-yard return for a touchdown against Arizona State in 1992. He added 19 career quarterback hurries, a pair of pass breakups and one interception caused.
1992 (Junior)
A strong pass rusher, Moore started the final eight games of 1992 at right defensive tackle after Jamie Liewer suffered a broken leg in the third game of the season against Washington. The tallest member of NU’s defensive line, Moore finished with 30 total tackles, including nine solos. He notched 3.5 tackles for nine yards lost, including 1.5 sacks for six yards. He added four quarterback hurries and one pass breakup. He provided a major highlight with his 54-yard interceptions return for a touchdown in the first start of his career against Arizona State. He helped Nebraska to a 45-24 win over the Sun Devils and was Nebraska’s nominee for Big Eight Defensive Player of the Week. In addition to his eight regular-season starts, Moore started the 1993 Federal Express Orange Bowl against Florida State. He recorded a quarterback hurry against the Seminoles.
1991 (Sophomore)
Moore played in 10 of Nebraska’s 11 regular-season games, finishing with nine tackles. He notched two TFLs for seven yards lost. He also posted nine quarterback hurries and one pass breakup. He opened the year with four tackles against Utah State in his Husker varsity debut, when he added four hurries. A former walk-on, Moore earned a scholarship prior to the start of the 1991 season.
1990 (Redshirt)
Moore redshirted in his second season at Nebraska.
1989 (Freshman)
A walk-on from York, Neb., Moore started at defensive right tackle for the 3-1-1 Husker JV team as a true freshman in 1989. He led the junior Huskers in tackles for loss (6-25) and ranked second only to linebacker Matt Penland in total tackles (28). Moore added a pass breakup and an interception in the five-game JV season.
York High School
A three-year letterman at defensive tackle, tight end and offensive tackle for Coach Warren Washburn at York High School, Moore was an honorable-mention all-state selection in both football and basketball as a senior. He also finished third in the high jump at the Nebraska state track and field meet.
Personal
The son of Lyle and Vickie Moore, Bruce was born in St. Albans, N.Y. He has a brother, Jerry, and a sister, Brenda. He majored in pre-physical therapy at Nebraska.
