1982 (Senior)
Evans backed up both Steve Damkroger and Staeve McWhirter as a senior. He finished the season with 33 tackles, 23 of those unassisted. Brent set up a game winning touchdown in a 23-19 win over Missouri when he intercepted a Tiger pass and returned it to the Missouri 16 yard line. Brent also recorded five tackles for a loss total of 15 yards, one of those being a sack for nine yards. Nebraska finished the season with a 12-1 record and an Orange Bowl win against LSU, 21-20.
1981 (Junior)
Evans took over at weakside linebacker in the first quarter of the opening game at Iowa when returning starter Steve McWhirter strained a knee. He started the last ten games, plus the Orange Bowl, even after McWhirter returned. Brent became the Huskers' No. 2 tackler behind fellow linebacker Steve Damkroger. Brent was in on 107 tackles, including 54 unassisted, had one quarterback sack for a loss of 17 yards, and made four other stops behind the line for nine more yards lost. Evans also shared the team lead in fumble recoveries with three, including one to stop an Iowa State drive at the Nebraska eight-yard line.
Evans earned Nebraska's Defensive Player of the Week honors against Penn State when he led all tacklers with 14 stops, including seven unassisted. He also recorded Nebraska's two highest tackle totals of the 1981 season, with 19 against Kansas and 15 after coming off the bench at Iowa.
1980 (Sophomore)
Evans lettered as a reserve linebacker. He finished the season with 15 total tackles, nine unassisted, one tackle for loss for six yards. Nebraska finished the 1980 season with a 10-2 record and a 31-17 Sun Bowl win against Mississippi State.
1979 (Redshirt)
Evans redshirted his second season at Nebraska.
1978 (Freshman)
Evans played fullback for the 1978 freshman, rushing for 101 yards on 17 carries, averaging 5.9 yards per carry.
Hazelwood West (St. Louis, Missouri)
Brent was an all-conference fullback for Coach Dick Brownlee, where he also earned all-state honors as a baseball pitcher and lettered in basketball.

Brent majored in business and is the son of Tom and Marlene Evans.
