Honors & Awards

• Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll (Fall 2012)

Offensive guard Brandon Thompson completed his Nebraska career in 2012 by adding depth for an outstanding Husker offensive line. The 6-6, 300-pound Thompson was a reserve along the offensive line throughout his career and continued in that role in 2012, serving as one of the Huskers' top backups at offensive guard.

Thompson saw action in four games in 2012 and 24 games throughout his Nebraska career, helping NU field one of the nation's top rushing offenses each of the past three years. Thompson earned his degree last May and was one of 20 Huskers who played in the Capital One Bowl as a graduate.

2012 (Senior)
Thompson saw action at offensive guard in NU wins over Southern Miss, Arkansas State, Idaho State and Minnesota and helped NU lead the Big Ten in both rushing offense and total offense.

2011 (Junior)
Thompson played in eight games as a reserve guard, but did miss four games late in the season because of injury. Thompson backed up Spencer Long, Seung Hoon Choi and Andrew Rodriguez at guard. Thompson also served on Nebraska's PAT and field-goal units as a blocker, and helped Brett Maher to an All-Big Ten season in 2011.

2010 (Sophomore)
Thompson earned playing time as a reserve guard and on Nebraska's PAT and field goal units. His play helped Nebraska rush for 200 yards in 10 of 14 games.

2009 (Redshirt Freshman)
Thompson was a reserve at guard and saw action in games against Florida Atlantic, Louisiana-Lafayette and the Holiday Bowl against Arizona.

2008 (Redshirt)
Thompson redshirted and worked on the scout team during his first year at Nebraska.

Before Nebraska (The Woodlands HS)
Thompson was one of nine Texans in the 2008 signing group, the largest group of players from that state to sign with Nebraska in a single season. He was the leader of the Highlanders' offense in 2007, providing protection for a quarterback who threw for nearly 1,600 yards and paving the way for three running backs to each top 300 yards on the ground. Despite battling injuries during his senior season, Thompson's play earned him first-team all-district honors in the 5A ranks.

Thompson also earned all-district honors as a junior, when he helped Coach Mark Schmid's squad to a 6-5 record. Thompson was ranked among the top 80 players in the Southwest region according to SuperPrep Magazine.

In addition to his talents on the football field, Thompson also excelled for the Highlander track team, throwing the shot put and discus. Thompson chose Nebraska over Purdue, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Colorado.

Personal
Brandon is the son of Jeff Thompson and Belinda Proctor and his stepfather is Leonard Proctor. Brandon was born on June 10, 1990. He earned his degree in business administration in May of 2012. He was a member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2012.
