1990 (Senior)
Brad Devall earned his second varsity letter for the Huskers as an alternate at wingback as a senior in 1990. After battling injury for much of his junior season, Devall hauled in a career-long 33-yard reception in Nebraska’s 56-0 blasting of Minnesota. He added his second catch of the season with a seven-yard grab against Missouri. Devall opened the season with an 11-yard carry in Nebraska’s win over Northern Illinois. He played in 10 regular-season games and the 1991 Florida Citrus Bowl against Georgia Tech. He helped the Big Red rank second nationally in rushing offense (340.0 ypg) and sixth in scoring offense (37.5 ppg).
In his career, Devall played in 19 regular-season games and three bowl games. He totaled three receptions for 46 yards and two carries for 20 yards.
1989 (Junior)
Devall battled an ankle injury for much of the season. He ended up playing in just three regular-season games as a reserve wingback. He did see action in the Sunkist Fiesta Bowl against Florida State, but he did not have any statistics. He helped the Huskers claim the NCAA rushing title by averaging 375.3 yards per game, while ranking second nationally in scoring offense (44.7 ppg) and third in total offense (513.3 ypg).
1988 (Sophomore)
A varsity letterman for the first time, Devall played in six of Nebraska’s first seven games to help the Huskers capture the Big Eight championship. He caught one pass for a six-yard touchdown against Utah State. He added one carry for nine yards in the win over UNLV. He also played in the 1989 Orange Bowl against Miami. He helped the Huskers win the NCAA rushing title (382.3 ypg), while ranking sixth in scoring offense (39.5 ppg) and seventh in total offense (477.9 ypg).
1987 (Redshirt)
Devall redshirted in his second season as a Husker.
1986 (Freshman)
A walk-on from O’Neill, Neb., Devall started at wingback for Coach Scott Downing’s 4-1 freshman team. He led the team in kickoff returns (5-98), ranked second on the team in receiving (6-124) and rushed nine times for 71 yards. He also returned three punts for a total of 15 yards. On special teams he was also credited with two tackles.
O’Neill High School
An honorable-mention all-state pick for Coach Mark Neish, Devall played wingback, I-back and cornerback at O’Neill High School. Devall rushed for 839 yards and returned two kicks for touchdowns as a senior in 1985. He also recorded 35 tackles and intercepted two passes. He was also an all-area basketball player, a two-time state qualifier in track and a .402 hitter for O’Neill’s state runner-up Legion baseball team.
Personal
The son of Gary and Pat Devall, Brad was born in O’Neill. He has one younger brother and two younger sisters. He majored in biology at Nebraska.
