1978 (Senior)
Billy won many games for the Huskers with his field goals, including the 17-14 victory over Oklahoma. He was the Huskers leading scorer for the second straight year with 78 points. In his senior year he was 11 of 19 in the field goal categories and 45 of 47 on PATs. Billy set three Nebraska records, for most field goals in a season (12) and longest (tie), 55 yards and extra point season average (.957, 45-47), all records that have since been surpassed.  Nebraska finished the season with a 9-3 record and an appearance in the Orange Bowl against Oklahoma.

1977 (Junior)
Billy was the Huskers leading scorer with 67 points, 31 0f 36 extra points and 12 of 18 field goals. In 1977 Billy set a Husker record and tied another, his 12 field goals is the most ever in a Nebraska season, besting the old record of 11 which has since been surpassed, held by Paul Rogers (1969) and Al Everland (1976). His best game was against Missouri, kicking three of four field goals (37 yards, 27 yards and 42 yards).  He helped the Huskers finish with a 9-3 record and a Liberty Bowl win against North Carolina, 21-17.

Billy was a transfer from Arizona Mesa Junior College.

Billy was a criminal justice major and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie J. Todd.
