  • 1982 Second-team All-Big Eight (UPI)

1982 (Senior)
Lyday led the Huskers with three interceptions and topped all defensive backs with five tackles behind the line of scrimmage. He finished his senior year with 39 tackles, two fumble recoveries, three interceptions and seven pass break ups. Allen had his best day vs. Kansas State when he was in on seven tackles, five unassisted. He also returned punts for the Huskers with the longest being 41 yards- also against Kansas State. 

1981 (Junior)
Allen intercepted three passes and was a starter as a part-time starter. He also finished the season with 17 total tackles, one fumble recovery, three interceptions and four pass breakups. Nebraska finished the season with a 9-3 record and an appearance in the 1982 Orange Bowl-National Championship game against Clemson.

1980 (Sophomore)
Lyday was a non-letter winner during the 1980 season. The Huskers finished the 1980 season with a 10-2 record and a 31-17 Sun Bowl win against Mississippi State.

1979 (Transfer Redshirt)
Lyday redshirted after transferring from Texas Southern University. 

1978 (Freshman)
As a freshman at Texas Southern in 1978-79, he was fourth in the javelin in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. 

Wichita South
Allen played cornerback for Coach Don Davis, where he was also an outstanding wrestler, finished second at state as a junior and went undefeated (22-0) to win the state title as a senior in 1978. 

Personal
Allen majoring in industrial education, and is the son of Mrs. Marilynne Alexander. Allen went undrafted in the 1983 draft but later signed with the Houston Oilers, where he played for four years. He appeared in 36 games, recording four interceptions returned for 36 yards and recovering one fumble.
