1976 (Senior)
Al tied a Husker record for most field goals in one season when he kicked 11 for 17 attempts as a senior, a record that has since been surpassed. He was the Husker’s leading scorer when he accounted for 76 of the team's 416 points. For his contributions he was named All-Big Eight as a kicking specialist. For his career, Al was 51 of 57 on extra points. Al helped Nebraska finish the season with a 9-3-1 record and an Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl win over Texas Tech, 27-24.
1975 (Junior)
Eveland was 6-6 in the extra point category and also was successful on his only field goal attempt. The Huskers finished the season with a 10-2 record and a Fiesta Bowl appearance against Arizona State.
1974 (Sophomore)
Al scored five points his sophomore season, making 2-3 extra points and nailing a field goal. Nebraska finished the season with a 9-3 record and a Sugar Bowl win against Florida (13-10).
1973 (Freshman)
Eveland was the starting kicker on the 4-1 freshman team. He was 9-10 on extra points and 2-2 field goals making him the third leading scorer on the team, 15 points.
North Bend High School (North Bend, Nebraska)
Al was a standout football player under Coach Dan Knight. Al was majoring in Art in Teachers College. Eveland was a member of the Innocents Society, the NU men’s honorary (Society that leads the campus in all aspects and promotes school spirit) and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Eveland.
