Before Nebraska (Benedictine HS/Florida)
Ortiz spent five seasons at Florida before joining Nebraska. During his time at Florida, Ortiz was a member of five bowl teams, including the 2020 team that won the SEC East Division. Ortiz was a three-time SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll selection and earned his degree in health education and behavior in the spring of 2022.

Originally from Richmond, Va., Ortiz was ranked as the No. 6 overall snapper out of high school by Rubio Long Snapping. He attended Benedictine College Preparatory and Catholic Military High School, helping his team to state championships in 2014 and 2015.
