Kyan Brumfield played in one game in 2021, making his Nebraska debut on special teams against Fordham.

Brumfield joined the Nebraska program after playing the 2020 season at Texas Tech. He previously played at Colgate and graduated from the school in three years.
 
Brumfield played in six games at Texas Tech in 2020, primarily on special teams. He earned Academic All-Big 12 honors. Brumfield played in 11 games with one start at Colgate in 2019, finishing with 11 tackles and two pass breakups. He played in six of the final seven games as a redshirt freshman in 2018 after redshirting in 2017.

Brumfield attended Greenwood High School in Bowling Green, Ky., for three years before finishing at Brandeis High School in San Antonio, where he starred on both sides of the ball. Brumfield had 57 tackles and five interceptions as a senior and finished his prep career with a total of 107 tackles and nine interceptions.

Personal
Kyan is the son of Ricky and Erin Brumfield and was born on July 14, 1999. He earned his master's degree from Nebraska in applied science in December of 2021.
