Joshua Fleeks played in 10 games with one start in his lone season as a Husker. He began the year at receiver before switching to running back after the first month of the season. Fleeks had 17 carries for 130 yards and one touchdown while catching eight passes for 69 yards. 

Fleeks had a four-yard catch against Northern Illinois for his first reception as a Husker. He made his debut at running back against No. 2 Michigan, rushing for a 74-yard touchdown on his lone carry. He became the first player to have a run of 70 yards or longer against Michigan since Wisconsin's Jonathan Taylor in 2019. Fleeks also had a two-yard catch against the Wolverines. He had a one-yard carry at Illinois. Fleeks had three carries against Northwestern, including a 10-yard rush. Fleeks had three carries for 19 yards with a 16-yard rush against Purdue. At Michigan State, Fleeks made his first start as a Husker and had a career-high four carries for 19 yards and caught a 3-yard pass. Fleeks had three carries for 11 yards against Maryland, and he also caught two passes for 11 yards. In his final game, Fleeks had two carries for two yards gainst Iowa and caught a 25-yard pass.

Fleeks joins the Nebraska program as a wide receiver after playing four seasons at Baylor. Fleeks was recruited to the Bears’ program by Coach Matt Rhule and his staff and was a versatile offensive playmaker.

The 5-10, 190-pound Fleeks played in nine games with one start in 2021, catching seven passes for 89 yards. He had a season-high 43 receiving yards against Texas Southern, and had a season-high three receptions in the Big 12 opener against Kansas. Fleeks was fourth on the team in receptions in 2020, with 21 catches for 181 yards and a touchdown. He also carried the ball five times. Fleeks had four catches in the opener against Kansas, and followed with 48 receiving yards and a 34-yard touchdown against West Virginia. He had a career-high six catches for a season-best 68 yards against Kansas State.

Fleeks played in all 14 games in 2019 in Rhule’s final season at Baylor. Fleeks had 25 receptions for 262 yards and a touchdown and also rushed for 27 yards and a touchdown. In the return game, Fleeks returned 11 kicks for 242 yards. Fleeks tied his career-best with six receptions for 42 yards against TCU. He had a career-high 126 receiving yards on three catches at Oklahoma State, including a career-long 64-yard catch.

He appeared in 12 games as a true freshman in 2018 and had 14 catches for 126 yards, while rushing for 16 yards. On special teams he returned 21 kicks for 380 yards. In the Texas Bowl against Vanderbilt, Fleeks had four receptions for 34 yards. Fleeks had five catches for 65 yards and a touchdown against Kansas, and returned five kicks for 95 yards against Duke.

At Cedar Hill High School, Fleeks had 313 rushing yards and four touchdowns, and also had 32 catches for 363 yards and five scores. He had 663 yards and eight touchdowns as a junior and was a first-team All-District selection, helping his team to an 11-2 record. Fleeks was ranked as a four-star prospect, among the top 20 all-purpose players in the country and among the top 25 players in the DFW Metroplex. He was also a track standout at Cedar Hill, competing in the 100, 200 and high jump. He picked Baylor over Georgia, Arizona, Missouri and Texas A&M.

Joshua is the son of Carlos Fleeks and Joann Smith, and he was born on July 20, 1999. Josh is taking graduate classes at Nebraska.
