2022 (Sophomore)
Jacob Herbek did not play in a game in 2022.
2021 (Redshirt Freshman)
Herbek made the switch from the defensive line to tight end during fall camp and moved back to defensive line in the spring. He did not play in a game in 2021.
2020 (Covid Season)
Herbek added depth to the Husker defensive line, but did not play in a game as a redshirt freshman.
2019 (Redshirt)
Herbek, who joined Nebraska as a walk-on, redshirted in his first season at Nebraska.
Before Nebraska (Grand Island Central Catholic HS)
Herbek joined the Huskers after being a two-way standout at Grand Island Central Catholic High School. Herbek had 72 tackles as a senior, including 51 solo stops and 23 tackles for loss for Coach Timothy Dvorak’s team. Herbek added five sacks and two fumble recoveries and had 24 receptions for 436 yards and two touchdowns on offense. Herbek earned Class C-2 first-team all-state honors from both the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star. He was an honorable-mention all-state selection in 2017, when he was among Central Catholic’s top defenders and was also a key factor on offense. Following his career, Herbek was selected to play in the 2019 Nebraska Shrine Bowl.
Personal
Jacob is the son of Michael and Shawn Herbek, and he was born on Oct. 4, 2000. He is a nutrition and health sciences major. He is on track to graduate in May of 2023. Herbek has volunteered his time with the Nebraska Football Road Race, the Husker Career Fair, the Inner Circle, FCA, SAAC, Husker Heroes and local hospital visits.
