Gage Wager redshirted in his first season at Nebraska.

Before Nebraska (Arlington Martin HS)
Wager came to Nebraska from Arlington Martin High School in Texas, where he was coached by his father, Bob. Gage helped the Warriors win a district title and advance to the state playoffs every season of his career.

Wager was a running back, punter and kicker at Arlington Martin. As a senior, Wager carried 25 times for 300 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 12 yards per carry. He also was 3-of-3 passing, averaged 40 yards per punt and was 32-of-32 on extra-points and 2-of-3 on field goals en route to first-team all-district accolades. As an all-district selection as a junior, Wager rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns, averaged 41.6 yards on 31 punts and was 22-of-22 on extra points. He also played soccer and competed in track and field at Arlington Martin.

Wager chose to walk on at Nebraska after receiving preferred walk-on opportunities at Texas and Texas Tech.
