2022 (Senior)
Eteva Mauga-Clements saw action on both defense and special teams in every game in 2022 while starting two games at linebacker. He posted a career-high 39 tackles with 2.5 TFLs, 1.0 sack and one forced fumble.
Mauga-Clements had two tackles in the opener against Northwestern and tied his then-career high with three tackles against North Dakota the next week. Mauga-Clements posted a career-high five tackles against No. 6 Oklahoma. He recorded three tackles against Indiana. Mauga-Clements played extensively in the win at Rutgers, finishing with three tackles. He made the first start of his career at Purdue and finished with three tackles. Against Illinois, Mauga-Clements made six tackles, which included a half tackle for loss. He finished with four tackles the next week against Minnesota. Mauga-Clements made one tackle at No. 3 Michigan. He recorded two tackles against Wisconsin. He started at Iowa in the final game of his career, totaling a career-high seven tackles with 2.0 TFLs and a strip sack that resulted in a Husker takeaway.
2021 (Junior)
Mauga-Clements played in every game in 2021 and made five tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss with one pass breakup. He made an impact from his inside linebacker spot in the win over Fordham, finishing with three tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss. Mauga-Clements added two solo tackles and his first career pass breakup against Buffalo.
2020 (Covid Season)
Mauga-Clements played in all eight games as a special teams standout in 2020. He made his Husker debut by playing both linebacker and special teams in Nebraska’s opener at No. 5 Ohio State. He appeared on special teams in each of the final seven games. Mauga-Clements made his lone tackle of the season on kickoff coverage at Northwestern.
Before Nebraska (College Park HS/Diablo Valley CC)
Mauga-Clements totaled 82 tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks in 18 career games at Diablo Valley, entering the program as a safety and redshirting in his first season.
The Bay 6 Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Mauga-Clements made 61 tackles with 23 TFLs and 7.0 sacks in 2019 with a forced fumble and blocked two kicks. In his first year, Mauga-Clements had 21 tackles with 6.5 TFLs and 1.5 sacks. A native of American Samoa, Mauga-Clements played his high school ball for College Park in California.
Mauga-Clements had received offers from most Pac-12 schools, according to his coach Mike Darr. Mauga-Clements was ranked as the No. 1 outside linebacker and No. 8 overall junior college recruit by Rivals.
Personal
Eteva was born on May 16, 1999, and is the son of Derek Clements. He earned his degree in criminology and criminal justice in December of 2021. Mauga-Clements has volunteered his time as part of School is Cool Week and the Nebraska Football Road Race.
