2022 (Redshirt Freshman)
Chubba Purdy played in six games in his first season at Nebraska with two starts. He completed 22-of-48 passes for 147 yards while rushing 24 times for 73 yards and two touchdowns.

Purdy made his Husker debut against No. 6 Oklahoma, leading NU on one of its two touchdown drives in the game. Purdy completed 7-of-11 passes for 35 yards against the Sooners, and he rushed five times for 29 yards, including an eight-yard touchdown. He also led one drive against Indiana. Purdy attempted one pass and had a two-yard rush at Rutgers. Purdy played the entire second half against No. 17 Illinois, completing 3-of-8 passes for 15 yards. He started the next week against Minnesota, accounting for 65 yards of total offense while scoring a rushing touchdown and leading Nebraska to 10 first-quarter points. Purdy started for the second straight week at No. 3 Michigan and was Nebraska's leading rusher and passer despite being knocked out of the game late in the first half with a season-ending injury. Purdy completed 6-of-12 passes for 56 yards against the Wolverines with five carries for 39 yards.

Purdy came to Nebraska after spending two seasons at Florida State (2020-21). Purdy played in four games with one start for the Seminoles.

Purdy played in three games as a true freshman in 2020. He completed 27-of-53 passes on the season for 219 yards and two touchdowns while rushing 19 times for 57 yards. Purdy earned the start at North Carolina State, becoming only the fifth true freshman quarterback to start a game in Florida State history. He accounted for 235 yards and two touchdowns in his lone start with the Seminoles. Purdy redshirted during the 2021 season, appearing against UMass and completing 5-of-5 passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing once for five yards.

Purdy was a four-star prospect for Perry High School in Arizona, where he was regarded as the nation’s No. 6 dual-threat quarterback in the 247Sports Composite rankings. Purdy accounted for 9,000 yards of total offense and 111 touchdowns in two seasons as Perry’s starter. Purdy totaled 4,423 yards of offense and 52 touchdowns as a senior, when he was the Arizona Offensive Player of the Year. As a junior, he passed for 3,425 yards and 36 touchdowns while rushing for 1,152 yards and 23 scores.

Personal
Chubba is the son of Shawn and Carrie Purdy, and was born on July 30, 2001. He is majoring in child, youth and family studies.  His older brother, Brock, played quarterback at Iowa State from 2018 to 2021 and was a two-time All-Big 12 selection while setting Cyclone career records for passing yards and total offense. Chubba’s father, Shawn, played baseball at Miami and in the minor leagues.
