Charles Brock was born on March, 15 1916 in Columbus, Nebraska and passed away in May of 1987.
Charles Brock was a star in high school at Kramer High in Columbus, Nebraska from 1932-1935. While in high school Brock earned 16 varsity letters, four each in football, basketball, and track. Brock was also selected to the All-State football and basketball teams twice. Brock would earn State Championships in the shot put and discus, and he would be the top scorer on the 1933 State Championship basketball team.
While at Nebraska Brock would continue to excel in athletics as he lettered three times in football and once in track. Brock was a three-time All-Big Six selection (1936-37-38) as well as a First-Team All-American in 1937. Brock also started at center in both the East-West All-Star Game and the College All-Star Game in 1939.
Brock continued his football career into the NFL where he was picked in the NFL Draft 24th overall in the third round by the Green Bay Packers. Brock played with the Packers from 1939 to 1947, playing in three Pro Bowls and was selected as an All-Pro in 1945 after being nominated three times prior to that. Brock ended his Packer career with 20 interceptions for 230 yards in returns and three touchdowns.
Brock left the Packers in 1948 to take over the duties of coaching the line at the University of Nebraska - Omaha. Brock would not be gone from Green Bay long though as in 1949 he was lured back to the Packers to do the same job.
Brock has been inducted into three halls of fame since his playing career has ended: the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame in 1972, the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 1973, and most recently the Nebraska High School Hall of Fame in 2002. Brock was also selected to the NFL 1940s All-Decade Team.
After his coaching days had ended Brock served as the President of the Green Bay Packer Alumni Association for four years and was the Youth Director for the Green Bay Packer Association for four years.
