Adi Kunalic has excelled as a kickoff specialist for Nebraska each of the past four seasons, helping the Huskers field one of the nation’s top special teams units. Kunalic has been the starting kickoff man since setting foot on campus in 2007, and has racked up a remarkable 125 touchbacks during his career.
In 2010, Kunalic had a career-high 39 touchbacks and Nebraska’s touchback total was the third-most in the country. Kunalic’s strong leg has helped Nebraska rank first in the Big 12 Conference in kickoff coverage with a net average of 46.9 yards per kickoff. Kunalic is also accomplished in the classroom earning first-team academic All-Big 12 honors for the third straight season.
                     
2010 (Senior)
Kunalic was Nebraska’s kickoff specialist in all 14 games during his senior season. He finished with 39 touchbacks in 86 attempts. Kunalic had at least three touchbacks in nine of 14 games during the season, including a season-best 7-of-7 touchback effort against Missouri. He had five touchbacks at Washington as the Huskies started eight of nine drives after kickoffs inside the 25-yard line. Kunalic also had an unassisted tackle at Oklahoma State.

2009 (Junior)
Kunalic had 29 touchbacks in 73 kickoffs, helping Nebraska to one of the nation's top kickoff coverage units. The 29 touchbacks were the third-most of any team in the country. Kunalic had at least one touchback in 13 of 14 games, including a season-high six against Louisiana-Lafayette. His work helped Nebraska to a +7.1-yard advantage in average starting field position for the season. 

2008 (Sophomore)
Kunalic posted 29 touchbacks in 81 attempts with at least three touchbacks in five games, and Nebraska ranked fifth in the country in touchbacks. Kunalic had a season-high five touchbacks in the opener against Western Michigan and four against San Jose State. 

2007 (Freshman)
Kunalic showed from game one that he would be a factor in the kicking game. He had six touchbacks in his first game as a true freshman against Nevada and never look back. He added four touchbacks each against Ball State, Iowa State and Kansas State and finished the year with 28 touchbacks in 66 attempts. He also made a 46-yard field goal against Nevada, his only career field goal attempt.  

Before Nebraska (North Crowley HS)
Kunalic was part of an impressive group of seven 2007 Husker recruits from the state of Texas. Kunalic came to the Huskers after a standout prep career for Coach Mike Papas at North Crowley High School in Fort Worth. Kunalic attempted just six field goals as a senior for a 3-7 North Crowley team, and connected on four of those attempts. He also nailed 29-of-31 extra-point attempts. Kunalic's powerful leg allowed him to boot 22 kickoffs for touchbacks during his senior season. Kunalic also served as the team's punter and averaged nearly 40 yards on 46 punts with a season-long punt of 72 yards.

As a junior, Kunalic had more place-kicking opportunities for a 9-2 North Crowley squad. He connected on 7-of-9 field goal attempts, including a pair of field goals from better than 50 yards. Kunalic was ranked among the top 20 kickers in the country according to
Rivals.com. Kunalic chose Nebraska after also taking a visit to Washington State. He also received offers from Miami, Kansas and Utah among others.

Personal
Adi was born in Bosnia on April 1, 1989, and is the son of Meho and Indira Kunalic. The Kunalic family moved to Germany in 1992 and then to the United States in 2000. Kunalic has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll each of his six semesters. Kunalic has also been one of Nebraska's community leaders and was named to the 2009 Brook Berringer Citizenship Team. He has volunteered his time at the Ridgewood Retirement Center, Elliott Elementary School and with numerous hospital visits.
