2014 (Freshman)
Matthew Schilmoeller ran in four meets as a true freshman for the Huskers in 2014. He opened his collegiate cross country career at the Augustana Twilight Invitational, finishing as NU’s No. 10 runner in a time of 20:42.29, while the Huskers claimed the team title.

The following week, Schilmoeller was Nebraska’s No. 9 finisher at the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational. He finished the meet in 66th-place (29:35.40), as the Huskers took runner-up honors as a team. The true freshman ran in NU’s final regular-season meet at the Bradley Classic. Schilmoeller was NU’s No. 8 finisher, crossing the finish line at 27:22.8.

Schilmoeller completed his freshman season at the Big Ten Championships, posting a time of 27:55.8. He was Nebraska’s No. 10 finisher at the conference championships.

Before Nebraska (Pius X)
Schilmoeller won a Class B-3 district title as a senior at Lincoln Pius X High School before finishing sixth (16:36.5) at the 2013 Nebraska Class B Cross Country Championships. He also competed for Pius X at the state championships as a freshman and sophomore, trimming more than 1:11 off his time from his freshman to senior season.
