2013 (Senior)
A late addition to the 2013 Nebraska cross country team, Kat Howard joined the Huskers after graduating from the University of Arizona. Howard provided depth and experience for the young Husker women’s cross country team.
After sitting out her final season at Arizona, Howard was granted a fifth year of eligibility after she graduated with her degree in nutritional sciences with a minor in chemistry.
In her debut with NU, Howard placed 35th at the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational in Lincoln, running a time of 23:45.70. Howard added a top-20 finish in her final race as a Husker at the Tim Young Invitational in Vermillion, S.D., where she placed 20th in 19:58.09.
2009-12 (University of Arizona)
Howard competed in cross country and track and field for Arizona from 2010 through 2013. As a junior on the cross country course in 2011, Howard competed in three meets for the Wildcats. She finished 12th at the Grand Canyon Invitational with a 5K time of 19:06.3.
She added an 18th-place finish at the George Kyte Classic with a 5K time of 18:43.3. She added a time of 18:30 to take 22nd over a three-mile course at the Dave Murray Invitational.
In 2010, She added top-20 finishes at the Kyte Classic and the Murray Invitational, while posting a career-best fifth-place finish at the Desert Twilight Festival.
As a true freshman in 2009, Howard registered a time of 18:44 over three miles at the Dave Murray Invitational in her only meet of the season.
Before Nebraska (Arizona/Ironwood)
Before competing for Arizona from the 2009-10 through 2011-12 seasons in both cross country and track, Howard was an All-Arizona competitor as a senior at Ironwood High School.
Personal
The daughter of Richard and Theresa Howard, Kat’s brother Michael was also a member of the cross country and track and field teams at Arizona. Kat was a nutritional sciences major with a minor in chemistry at Arizona, graduating in 2013.
