David Adams opened 2010 with a bang as he set the indoor 5,000-meter school record with a time of 14:12.47 at the Holiday Inn Invitational... became the first Husker in school history to run a sub-14-minute 5,000 meters at the Husky Classic with a time of 13:55.68 on Washington's 300-meter oversized oval... won his first Big 12 title in the same event at the indoor conference championships with an oversized time of 14:03.04... focused on the 3,000-meter steeplechase during the outdoor season, running the event at three meets... took third-place at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships for the second straight year with a time of 8:55.74... finished the year with a 18th-place time of 8:59.68 at the NCAA West Regional.
2009 (Sophomore)
Adams continued to improve in 2009, ending the outdoor season at the NCAA Championships... started the indoor season with a victory in the 5,000 meters at the Holiday Inn Invitational, running a then-personal-best time of 14:38.75... set three other then-personal bests during the indoor season, including the 1,000 meters (2:26.94), mile run (4:10.46) and 3,000 meters (8:11.55)... opened the outdoor season at the Stanford Invitational with a then-personal-best time of 8:48.10 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase... dropped his personal best later in the season at the John McDonnell Invitational with a winning time of 8:47.07... improved his personal best one last time at the Payton Jordan Invitational with a time of 8:43.79, the sixth-best performance in Husker history... placed third at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships and seventh at the NCAA Midwest Regional... earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, where he placed 15th in the steeplechase with a time of 8:49.51.
2008 (Freshman)
After redshirting his first season with the Nebraska cross country team Adams competed both indoors and outdoors for the track and field team... ran in six meets during the indoor season... won his first collegiate race at the Holiday Inn Invite with a victory in the 3,000 meters (8:37.34)... ran a then-personal best 4:13.59 in the mile at the adidas Classic... opened the outdoor season with a second-place showing in the 3,000-meter run at the Jim Click Shootout... was a top-15 all-time performer at Nebraska in the 3,000 meters (15th) and 3,000-meter steeplechase (11th)... posted three first-place finishes in the steeplechase at the Concordia Invitational, Kansas Relays and Ward Haylett Invitational, including a personal-best time of 8:57.87 at the Ward Haylett Invitational... scored at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships with a fifth-place finish in the steeplechase... concluded the collegiate outdoor season at the NCAA Midwest Regional, finishing 15th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase... placed fourth at the USA Junior Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:07.16).
Before Nebraska (York HS)
Adams competed in the 2005 and 2006 Nebraska Class B state meets, but missed the 2007 meet his senior year due to a stress fracture in his foot... coached by Tom Brink and former Husker distance standout Eric Rasmussen... as a junior, won the All-Class gold medal in the 1,600-meter run by 0.19 seconds (4:23.50) over Husker teammate Matt Conahan... won the Class B 3,200-meter run (9:32.29), was the anchor on the runner-up 4x800-meter relay and placed eighth in the 800-meter run... was the Class B 3,200-meter champion in 2005, while taking fifth in the 1,600 and running on the eighth-place 4x800-meter relay... was the Class B state cross country champion in 2005 and 2006, including the All-Class gold medal in 2005... chose Nebraska over Iowa State.
