2013 (Freshman)
Clayton Henderson added valuable depth to the young NU men’s team during the 2013 season. The freshman from Shawnee, Kan., competed in three meets for the Huskers during his freshman campaign.
Henderson made his debut with NU at the Augustana Twilight in Sioux Falls, S.D., where he placed 13th in a time of 20:13.27 to help the Huskers win their opening meet of the season. At the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational, Henderson placed 50th (27:40.50). In his final meet of the season, hen added another top-20 finish by placing 18th (27:00.04) at the Tim Young Invitational in Vermillion, S.D.
Before Nebraska (Shawnee Mission Northwest)
Henderson joined the Huskers from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in Shawnee, Kan. He was a member of two cross country state championship teams and one track state championship team. Henderson recorded personal-bests of 4:37.95 in the 1,600 meters and 9:45.02 in the 3,200 meters. He finished ninth in the 3,200 meters at the Kansas State High School Class 6A Championships with a time of 9:49.87. He finished seventh in the 3,200 meters at the state meet in 2012 with a time of 9:53.11. Henderson was a member of honor roll all four years of high school.
Personal
Clayton is the son of David and Annette Henderson. He is majoring in computer engineering at Nebraska.
