2011 Outlook: Khris Tate is one of the most experienced pitchers on the 2011 roster and plans to be a key part of Nebraska’s bullpen in his senior year • Ranks fourth in both  innings (30.2) and appearances (15) among returning pitchers in 2010 • Played for East Texas in the Texas Collegiate League over the summer with NU teammates Chase Adams and Bryan Peters • Tied for third among wins for the PumpJacks with a 3-2 record and 2.78 ERA in 10 starts • Hard thrower with a fastball in the low 90s and solid off-speed pitches • Became a full-time pitcher in junior college after playing shortstop earlier in his career.

2010: Tate made a significant contribution in his first year at Nebraska, going 2-2 with a 4.99 ERA in 15 appearances • Pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts against Southeast Missouri State on May 9 • Allowed one hit over 1.1 shutout innings against Texas A&M on May 1 • Started and went the first three innings against Iowa on April 27, allowing two unearned runs on three hits while striking out a pair of Hawkeyes • Went 4.1 innings in a loss against Kansas on April 17, allowing four runs on six hits • Took the loss at No. 20 Kansas State on April 10, allowing four runs on five hits over four-plus innings of work • Made his Big 12 starting debut at Oklahoma State on April 3, allowing one run over a career-high 5.1 innings, as he fanned three to earn a win • Had a pre-determined three-inning start against North Dakota on March 31, fanning three and scattering two hits for his first win as a Husker • Tossed an inning of shutout relief against No. 12 Oklahoma on March 26 • Didn’t allow a run in 0.2 innings of work against South Dakota State on March 16 • Fanned two in a scoreless inning of relief against Houston Baptist on March 14 • Turned in a solid effort at No. 14 UCLA, allowing one run over three innings of relief while fanning five in the series opener on March 5.

Before Nebraska: Tate came to Nebraska after spending two seasons at Weatherford (Texas) College with Coach Jeff Lightfoot • Posted a 4-3 record in 2009, fanning 41 over 52.1 innings of work • Turned in his best performance of 2009 came against Cisco, when he fanned 10 over seven innings of two-hit ball • Pitched extensively as a freshman, going 4-2 with a 3.27 ERA, as he fanned 45 over 52 innings of work • Played on the DBAT team that reached the Connie Mack World Series in 2006 and 2007 • Played three years at Carthage High School for Coach Shawn Schumaker, going 8-0 on the mound while hitting .350 or better as the team’s starting shortstop • Named first-team all-state in class 3A as a senior, hitting .402 with a school-record 10 homers and 38 RBIs, while also going 5-0 with a 0.45 ERA and fanning 35 in 32 innings  • Chosen the East Texas Region Offensive MVP in 2007 • Hit .372 with two homers and 21 RBIs as a junior earning second-team all-region and first-team all-district honors • Helped Carthage to a Class 3A state title as a sophomore, hitting .357 and earning a spot on the all-state tournament squad.

Personal: Born on Nov. 28, 1988, in Nacogdoches, Texas • Parents are Vince and Lisa Tate • Has two younger sisters (Paige and Mackenzie) • Majors in communication studies and holds a 3.03 GPA.
