2011 Outlook:
Ryan Richardson was in the mix to earn playing time in NU’s middle infield, but suffered a shoulder injury before the season and will redshirt in 2011 • Participated in fall drills before he was forced out due to injury with two weeks remaining • Joins left hander Zach Hirsch as one of two Illinois natives on the roster, as both were high school teammates at St. Charles North.
Before Nebraska:
Richardson attended St. Charles High North High School and played for Coach Todd Genke • Was a teammate of current Husker freshman Zach Hirsch both at St. Charles North HS and in summer ball • Hit .485 with 35 RBIs and two homers in 2010 to earn first-team all-state and all-conference honors • Named captain of the 2010 all-area team • Was also a first-team all-state selection by the Illinois Coaches Association in 2009, hitting .459 with 18 doubles, 40 RBIs and 35 runs scored in 34 contests • Succeeded in the classroom and was named academic all-conference three times.

Born on Aug. 27, 1991, in The Woodlands, Texas • Parents are Jeff and Jayna Richardson • Has one sister, Lindsey • Is undecided on a major, but was named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in his first semester at NU.
