2019: Nolan Hakel did not see playing time for the Huskers in 2019.
2018: Hakel started one game and made seven non-pitching appearances, while pitching in relief for one game • Made his pitching debut on April 18 when he threw 1.1 scoreless innings of relief against Omaha with one strikeout • Had a stolen base and one run scored at Kansas State on April 10 • Made his first career start on April 7 at Michigan State in right field • Made his Husker debut as a pinch hitter during the first game of a doubleheader against Cal Poly on March 10 and drew a walk in his only time at the plate.
Before Nebraska: Hakel spent two years at Hutchinson Community College under Coach Ryan Schmidt • Earned second-team All-Jayhawk Conference honors • Batted .361 with nine home runs, 16 doubles, five triples and 46 RBIs • Had Tommy John surgery during his freshman year of college • Played high school baseball at Lincoln Pius X under Coach Troy Charf • Garnered second-team all-state honors as a junior and senior • Helped lead the Thunderbolts to three state crowns and one runner-up finish in his four years • Pius X won the title in 2012, 2014 and 2015, while taking second place during Hakel’s sophomore year in 2013 • Made the Green Honor Roll.
