Before Nebraska: Miller was one of the best all-around players in the state of Colorado under head coach Brian Smela at Mountain View High School • Set school records for batting average (.568), hits (46), doubles (13), slugging (1.025) and on-base percentage (.511) en route to leading the Lions to the 2010 Class 4A state championship • Also hit eight home runs and compiled a 9-0 record on the mound with a 0.76 ERA and 97 strikeouts • Was named to the Loveland Reporter-Herald Pitcher and Player of the Year in 2010 • Played in the Colorado Rockies Top 50 baseball game at Coors Field last June • On the football field, named the 2009 Tri-Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year from his defensive end position.
