2013: Matt Jones redshirted his first season at Nebraska after undergoing Tommy John surgery in the Fall of 2012.
Before Nebraska: A 2012 first-team All-Central Region by Rawlings, Jones joined the Huskers as a first baseman and pitcher from Gretna High School • Named second-team Super State by the Lincoln Journal Star and was a first-team Class B selection by the Omaha World-Herald in 2012 • Hit .422 as a senior at Grenta with seven doubles, two triples and two home runs • Drove in 18 runs and scored another 22 • Played summer ball for the Nebraska Sluggers under Johnny Graves • Hit .400 with 44 hits, including 11 doubles, five triples and five home runs • Helped lead the Sluggers to a 20-17 record with 37 RBI • Took no other visits after visiting Nebraska.
