2018: Jake McSteen battled an arm injury during much of his junior season, making five appearances on the mound, including two starts • Went 1-2 with an 8.53 ERA and recorded 11 strikeouts in 12.2 innings pitched • Tossed 2.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts during the first game of a doubleheader against Iowa on April 13 • Came back from his Feb. 24 injury to pitch on April 8 at Michigan State when he threw 0.1 inning of relief and recorded one strikeout • Went 4.0 innings in the start against No. 2 Oregon State on Feb. 24 with three strikeouts • Earned the win in his first start of the season against Washington State on Feb. 17 • Went 5.0 scoreless innings against the Cougars, allowing only two hits, while striking out four batters.

2017: McSteen played in 22 games as a reliever, logging 39.2 innings • Went a perfect 4-0 with a 2.04 ERA • Struck out 28 batters, while allowing 10 walks • Earned the win in his season debut on Feb. 17 against UC Riverside, where he went 2.2 scoreless innings and struck out three • Had a career-high four strikeouts in back-to-back appearances, including a 2.0-inning outing against Northern Colorado on March 7 and a 3.2-inning showing against Western Carolina on March 11 • Struck out three in 2.0 scoreless innings against College of Charleston on March 18 • Earned wins in back-to-back showings on the road, including 1.0 scoreless inning at Omaha on April 5 and a 3.0 scoreless inning effort at Kansas State on April 11 • Notched his fourth win of the season on May 14 against Michigan State.

2016: Following shoulder surgery that cost him most of the 2015 season, McSteen contributed as a starter and reliever in 2016 • Tossed 47.1 innings over 14 appearances, including seven starts • Finished the year 2-2 with a 4.56 ERA and 23 strikeouts • Made four starts during Big Ten play and was 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA • Made his season debut with 3.1 scoreless innings of relief at College of Charleston on Feb. 21 • Earned his first win with 4.2 innings of scoreless two-hit relief at Long Beach State on March 4 • Made his first career start against Loyola Marymount and allowed four runs on six hits over 4.1 innings • Started and went a career-high 6.0 innings in a win at Purdue on March 26 • Came out of the bullpen for his final four appearances of the year and allowed no runs on three hits.

2015: McSteen threw 3.0 innings over three appearances out of the bullpen early in the 2015 season before he missed the rest of his freshman year following shoulder surgery • Earned a medical redshirt • Recorded a strikeout in his debut on Feb. 14 at UNLV • Tossed 2.1 innings of one-hit scoreless relief with two strikeouts at Loyola Marymount on Feb. 27.

Before Nebraska: McSteen joined the Huskers following his prep career at Langley High School in Great Falls, Va. • Was a 2014 honorable-mention All-Atlantic Region pick and a 2013 Underclass Honorable-Mention All-American by Perfect Game • Regarded as the No. 3 left-handed pitcher in the state of Virginia and the No. 137 left-handed pitcher in the country by Perfect Game • Was 8-1 in nine starts as a senior at Langley, while adding a pair of saves • Notched a 0.65 ERA and 90 strikeouts over 64.0 innings of work • Competed for the Demarini Stars during the summer • Squad placed in the top five at the Perfect Game WWBA Nationals in 2013 and 2014.
